In an attempt at more discovery, I’m reading Rick Warren’s ‘A Purpose Driven Life’. I was immediately turned off by a concept that he talks about with inventions and discovering purpose – that for a new invention, the best way to find its purpose is to ask the inventor or read the manual.
Maybe it’s because I never read the manual as a kid. Maybe it’s because I’ve done irb studies and I’m not supposed to tell a user how to do things. Maybe it’s because many inventions get used for things greater than their inventory ever dreamed.
I don’t comprehend this premise to the book at all.
