The Atlanta Airport Quickly

Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson is the world’s busiest airport and a model at efficiency – it is a matter of logistics, if you want to fly people and keep them happy, get out of their way.

This last weekend on my flight to Austin was no different – except for I was pushing it closely (and this is probably the first Saturday flight I’ve had in a while.

I Made It from my door to the Terminal in 37 minutes (Midtown Marta->Airport->Security->Tram->B concourse Terminal), amazing because security was a walk through (I’m really good at getting my shoes and belt off.) Big thanks to the TSA employee that joked about me cutting my flight close, but reassured me that I would make it in time.

What made it different than Austin? One thing stood out, every other airport that I’ve used in the last 2 years uses body scanners 100% of the time. In Austin, I stood in line for 15 minutes – more time than it took me to get from the Marta Train to my terminal in Atlanta. I don’t think this changes security in any meaningful way either.

Additionally, the Atlanta airport is more modern feeling than the Austin airport, with its aire of commercialism while having multi cultural art in other places.

What is your favorite airport? Does air travel get in the way of your work and vacations?
